Mellis is very proud to be a Church of England School with the Ipswich and St Edmundsbury Diocesan Multi-Academy Trust, and we value our links with the local Church community very highly. The Christian ethos of the school is a key foundation stone in its character.
We were, in March 2019 been judged 'Good' in all areas in the challenging new Church Inspection Framework introduced in this academic year.. A full copy of the report can be seen by clicking here.
We regularly attend school services at Mellis Church, and we are lucky to have a strong relationship with the local Vicar and the Diocese through our membership of the St Edmundsbury and Ipswich Diocesan MAT.
Children are encouraged to learn about and value the Christian ethos of the school, and to regard their local churches as important elements of their local community. Collective Worship is a central part of the school's daily assemblies.
Mellis Primary recognises the key part that Faith in many forms plays in people's lives across contemporary Britain. The school has a wide ranging RE curriculum to educate children using the nationally recognised Emmanuel Project scheme of work. We are also pround to note that we have recently achieved the 'WIRED' RE award for the School's provision in this regard.
Our vicar for the last 10 years has been the Rev. Julia Lall. She has officiated at school services at Mellis Church and regularly in School as part of her Chaplaincy role. We have recently bid farewell to her as she moves to a new benefice, and we look forward to building a new relationship with the new incumbent - in the fullness of time!
The school regularly attends services at St Mary's Church in Mellis. If you would like to know more about Mellis Church, please click on this link. Mellis Church
