Mellis Church of England Primary School - 'To Be Our Best'

Every year, Year 6 children can apply for the position of Head Girl and Head Boy at Mellis School. Candidates give speeches at whole school hustings, and all pupils vote thereafter.

The Head Boy and Head Girl have their own job description.

Main purposes of the job

1. To support the Headmaster and Teachers in promoting and representing the school and its values
2. Main responsibilities and tasks

1. To demonstrate a high standard in terms of general personal behaviour and attitudes, attitudes to learning, and respect for others;
2. Represent the school at certain events e.g. Church services etc
3. Show visitors round
4. Meet with school council /house captains as may be required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

1. Can act as a positive role model as above
2. Understands right from wrong, and is willing to go the extra mile in standing up for the right thing
3. Ability to recognise different talents and abilities, and to respond to others’ achievements, views and situations.
