The benefits for your family and the school
As you may or may not know, parents can apply for Free School Meals where circumstances may make this appropriate. Aside from relieving a potential financial burden to the family, the school (and hence the child) benefits from receiving some £1320 per year to directly support that child in their education and wider school life. This can take the form of contributing to school uniforms, school trips, music lessons, extra tuition and so on, and can make a real difference to their achievement in school.
We would very much encourage anyone who may be eligible, even if their child or children is in KS1 where they automatically receive a free hot lunch regardless of circumstance. Please click here to find out whether or not you may be eligible.
