Improving Education in Suffolk - Mellis' role in the 'Suffolk School Improvement Group' initiative

raising the bar

There is considerable attention to Suffolk schools at present, and the school recognises the need for schools to work together to improve attainment and progress for all of Suffolk's children.

To this end, the school is has formed a Suffolk School Improvement Group with Fressingfield, Worlingworth and Stradbroke Primaries,in order to create improved opportunities to share good practise and to promote the 'Raising the Bar agenda.

Most recently, Mellis has worked with its partner school to develop writing exemplars from EYFS to Year 6, to assist with consistent and accurate writing moderation.

Forming Links in the Local Education Community

Local Links

Mellis Primary values links with other schools, and aims to play its part in maintaining existing links and developing new ones in a variety of ways. As well as developing links with schools outside its immediate pyramid, Mellis has a strong tradition of working alongside other schools. For instance, Mellis staff hold (or have held) chair positions for the Pyramid KS1 and KS2 Meetings, which are forums for the exchange of good practice. In addition, Mellis organises the Year 4 Pyramid Day (Orienteering), and provides the Year 3 Pyramid Day (Natural Art). On the sporting front, Mellis also hosts the Pyramid Cross Country heats.
