Improving Education in Suffolk - Mellis' role in the 'Suffolk School Improvement Group' initiative

raising the bar

The Raising the Bar initiative was formed in order to raise the achievement of all children across Suffolk..

To this end, the school formed a Suffolk School Improvement Group with Fressingfield, Worlingworth and Stradbroke Primaries,in order to create improved opportunities to share good practise and to promote the 'Raising the Bar agenda.

These have most recently focused on develop writing exemplars from EYFS to Year 6, to assist with consistent and accurate writing moderation. The School's Headmaster and Year 2 Teacher are both Local Authority Year 6 Writing and Year 2 Assessment moderators.

Local Links

Mellis Primary values links with other schools, and aims to play its part in maintaining existing links and developing new ones in a variety of ways. As well as developing links with schools outside its immediate pyramid, Mellis has a strong tradition of working alongside other schools.  In addition, Mellis organises the Year 4 Pyramid Day (Orienteering), and provides the Year 3 Pyramid Day (Natural Art). On the sporting front, Mellis also hosts the Pyramid Cross Country heats.
