Suffolk and Norfolk Teaching School Alliance

Mellis is proud to be a Core School in the Primary East TSA - the only dedicated PrimaryTSA in the area. We are:

  1. Playing an increasing role in: providing leadership and subject expertise to support other schools
  2. Providing Initial Teacher Training via Schools Direct
  3. Developing demand led CPD across the area

Mellis CE Primary works with different outside organisations to improve standards both here and at other schools, sharing practice, ideas and resources. Here are the two main means by which we achieve this - via our membership of the Primary East Teaching School Alliance, and through being part of the St Edmundsbury and ipswich Diocesan MAT.

Local Links

Mellis Primary values links with other schools, and aims to play its part in maintaining existing links and developing new ones in a variety of ways. As well as developing links with schools outside its immediate pyramid, Mellis has a strong tradition of working alongside other schools.  In addition, Mellis organises the Year 4 Pyramid Day (Orienteering), and provides the Year 3 Pyramid Day (Natural Art). On the sporting front, Mellis also hosts the Pyramid Cross Country heats.

Mellis School academised within the Diocesan MAT in June 2017, and as such has been involved with working with a diverse range of schools within the DMAT

This has included:

1) Leading Year 6 Writing moderation sessions and Year 2 Moderation sessions

2) Working with school 'Triads', whereby three schools work alongside each other to challenge and to share good practice at Senior Management level. This year, we will be working with Wetherinsett C of E Primary School.

3) Organising governor and staff exchange visits to review practice
